The Chase McPhaul Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Chase's life and the lasting impact he had on families, exhibitors, and the agricultural community. Through this scholarship, the San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate is proud to invest in the future of youth exhibitors while preserving the legacy of someone who deeply believed in hard work, mentorship, and the value of stock showing.
Established in partnership with the San Angelo Area Foundation, this fund is designed to provide meaningful support for years to come. The Syndicate is now raising funds to build that foundation and expand its impact for future generations.
Remembering Chase McPhaul
Chase McPhaul was a devoted husband, father, 4-H leader, and lifelong advocate for agriculture and the stock show community. Raised in West Texas, he developed an early love for sheep and built a life centered around helping young people succeed in the livestock industry.
He served for many years as the Reagan County 4-H agent and was widely respected for his knowledge of sheep and stock showing. More than that, he was known for encouraging, mentoring, and helping countless exhibitors and families along the way. Chase especially loved the Finewool division, and his passion for livestock, youth, and community left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
He was also one of the first people to support the San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate's mission, championing its purpose from the beginning.
Scholarship Overview
Beginning in 2027, the Champion Finewool exhibitor at the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo will receive the Chase McPhaul Memorial Scholarship, with an award of at least $2,500 presented upon graduation from high school.
The scholarship was created to recognize young people who demonstrate the same work ethic, dedication, and agricultural values that defined Chase's life and service. To establish the fund for the long term, the Syndicate set a fundraising goal of at least $50,000.
